Unfortunately, many Instagram plus size bloggers on Instagram have been getting banned, blocked, flagged, reported, and deleted. The catch is that many non plus bodies show WAY more than we do, but do not get banned or blocked. Is it because Instagram is slightly fat phobic? Maybe. Is it that people on IG are rude and just keep reporting us? Could be….
But there may be another REALLY simple reason why!
Have you ever used hashtags on your post but didn’t go back through and click them all? Why would you need to right? Besides for engagement purposes, you can actually see when hashtags are blocked! Check out the screenshot below that was just taken.
Many of the hashtags plus size woman use are blocked. Therefore if you continue to use them you will be blocked eventually too. Some of these tags get “shadow banned”, meaning they will ban it but not talk about it or let you know. Whole profiles even get shadow banned. So bad that it’s almost as if their IG just disappeared.
So if you’re tired of being blocked, this may be just one solution to our problems! Unfortunately we can’t fix the algorithm, or the fact that IG hates on fat bodies, but we can continue to post dope content and unblocked hashtags to try to beat it!!!
Below is the list I have compiled of hashtags that Instagram has blocked or shadow banned.
