Where is Plus Size Fashion Sustainability? Brands To Know In Size Inclusive Sustainable Fashion.

Recently, I have been on the hunt for plus size sustainability. How can I help contribute the most to preserving our environment and Mother Earth?

I had partnered with Darn Good Yarn to help promote plus size fashion sustainability…. and it got me thinking. Are their more brands like this?

Their materials are all made with recycled textiles and they also partner with a local non profit for assist in employment adults with developmental delays. This company is literally one of the most sustainable and resourceful business. #DarnGoodJob #DarnGoodYarn

I headed to Instagram to try to get some answers. And the result was astonishing. No one had any idea of ONE plus size sustainable fashion brand. Why is this? Why is sustainability lacking in the plus size industry?

Part of me thinks I should be thankful for the brands and clothes that we as plus size women are finally getting. Cute, young, and hip styles are available in so many sizes. But they’re not all necessary sustainable brands. We see a lot of fashion fashion in plus sizes and one theory is because, “Plus size clothes cost more to manufacture”. But, people don’t mind paying extra if the company is environmentally conscious, then, why blame it on the clothes costing too much to make? Because, we’re willing to pay the price!

This is definitely something to think about next time you go shopping. How can we change this? Let’s keep asking brands what they do to contribute to sustainability and holding them accountable to those responses! Together we can save the earth one plus size woman at a time!
